Much Needed

So last weekend, Ashley and I had a chance to take a little weekend vacation away just the two of us!! It was a much needed break! We did not do much except go shopping and just stroll around downtown Grand Haven. It is so beautiful up there along the lake. It was about the perfect time to be there I think. Sure it was a little chilly at night but during the day it was gorgeous! If you want to see some pic’s from the vacation just click on the link below to check them out on her myspace page!!! Wow can you believe that it is almost October already? I guess time flies when you are having fun!!! My son is in Kindergarten and Madison is walking and starting to talk…... man I am starting to feel old!!! My babies are growing up so fast!! Ashley’s business is starting to take off! Jon got his iPhone around a month ago. At first I figured big deal, its just another phone. Well now that I have had mine for just a few days…....... the thing is freaking awesome. It does basically whatever you want plus much more. So definitely get an iPhone, and make sure you come see us at SabreTech to help you get it all set up!!!

So Jon got me into play Team Fortress 2…... I had a decent system. Core2Duo 2.0 Ghz with 3gb of RAM, 7300GT 256mb video card, 19” Glossy Acer monitor. I couldn’t load my games at full resolution. So I decided to get some new toys…. PNY Verto GeForce 9600 512mb video card and a 500w Stealth Stream power supply. Now I will be able to play games at full resolution. Not that it will make me any better but at least my games will look cooler!!!!

It was a late night at the office and Ashley had worked all day so neither one of us felt like cooking. So we decided to order chinese from the Great Wall in Hillsdale. We have ordered from there before many times and normally it is good food. Well this time it was TERRIBLE! She ordered Moo Goo Guy Pan or whatever it is and it was completely dry and had absolutely no sauce to it. I order just plain old chicken and fried rice and it tasted like it was spoiled. So I called them and told them what was going on and all they could tell me was “Our food is not bad, and the Moo Goo has plenty of sauce” well something like that in their broken english. What ever happened to customer service? They didn’t even offer to make us new food or refund our money. After 15 long minutes on the phone with them I gave up. NEVER again will we order from there!!!!

To Vista or Not To Vista

Well service pack one has been out for Vista for around a month now. Even with service pack one though vista still has some bugs to work out, and of course it still runs slow “right out of the box”. At SabreTech we have found some things that will help make your new Vista machine run like a new machine.

1. Remove any programs that you don’t use that came from the manufacturer, i.e., Dell Pre-installed Software.

2. Turn off that annoying “do you want to continue box”, which is actually called user account control. To do that; hit the start button, in the search box type in user accounts, when the search box brings up the user accounts in the start menu click on it. Once user accounts opens, click on “Turn User Account Control on or off”. Uncheck the “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer” box, then hit OK. Of course windows will ask you to continue one more time and then for a reboot. Reboot your computer and that will no pop up again.

3. This is probably the biggest thing that will speed up Vista, however you will lose the 3D look of Vista. Right click on “Computer” and go to properties. Once the system page opens click on “Advanced System Settings” on the right hand side. Then you will see three different headings on the “Advanced” tab. Under the “Performance” heading click the settings box. On the “Performance Options” window that pops up, on the “Visual Effects” tab, select the radial button next to “Adjust for best performance”. Hit apply and ok. After that Vista has a more familiar look and will run a lot faster.

OF COURSE YOU COULD JUST BRING THE COMPUTER DOWN TO SABRETECH AND WE WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO DO THIS ALL FOR YOU!!!

Well we got the Adobe CS3 suite a few months ago. And after playing with it there is nothing I like more for building websites, editing photos, and making flash movies. I recently re-worked the MackBrush website and I must say it looks pretty slick. I also did a website for my wife’s photography. That is still a work in progress.
